why are people now calling Iran , " the enemy " , I have heard this many times on radio usually from ex servicemen or people like max hastings for example. As far as I know we are not at war with Iran , never have been and I sincerely hope never will be.The Americans are always accusing Iran of helping the Shia muslims in Iraq but they cannot say that they were not warned of this prior to their, and our , illegal invasion of Iraq.I am certainly no apologist for saddam and his awful regime but he did hold this unruly alliance together for 30 years , yes he was cruel and killed many people but as we have seen the Iraqi`s are by nature both tribal and have different relgions. since the invasion the Iraqi christians, tollerated under saddam, have been pushed out of the country and persecuted if they have tried to stay , so torture is still going on even with a so-called democratic government in place , pro shia of course, it is just that the toturers and the tortured have swapped places.
so , Iran is Iraq`s neighbour and has been looking on with horror and also on its eastern border with Afghanistan they see western troops occupying that country and fighting to establish rule there. Lets face it how would we react if during the cold war , not that long ago, Russia had invaded France and Ireland and occupied them whilst trying to impose communism there?
Iran has showed by releasing the 15 captives that it is a reasonable country and will negociate if given the chance to do so and if the sailors and marines were not told what to say to the british press when they arrived home , why were they not allowed to speak with the gathered press upon arrival in UK. Why were they kept quiet and out of reach for 24 hours ? obviously they were primed with what to say because the whole this has been an embarassment to our government and lets face it no=one believes them anymore when it comes to the middle east.
